It’s what my Nana always used to say to me. She also used to say freckles are the sign of beauty, but that’s another story.

I’ve spent most of my working life working in big agencies in the Midlands where being the vertically challenged novelty Northerner (aka Geordie) I had to shout out very loudly to get heard.

I set my own design and marketing consultancy up in 2009 and we’ve grown. Not to the point of having a huge agency.

I’m lucky enough to have a great team of designers, PR’s, SEO consultants and developers which I bring together for projects in small teams. We’ve all grown up a bit from our agency days. We all love what we do and there’s no politics or ego.

In a meeting today I was asked “So what do you do?” to which I replied “I’m the one who makes it happen.”

This answer was a bit too simple.

What I should have said is –

“I’m the one who listens to the client, understands their objectives, challenges and internal politics and I work with our team and client on the strategy, and quite often we challenge the brief (not just for the sake of it though). I ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget with measured results. After all, it’s still my surname above the door.”

One of my associates introduced me and my business to another business as “small and perfect” whilst another said “they are brilliant” so we’re definitely doing something right.
